Hawaii Correctional Officials Seek Sites for New Jail

The Hawaii Department of Public Safety recently issued a document outlining site requirements for the construction of a new jail facility in Honolulu on the island of Oahu. The new facility will replace the island’s aging and outdated Oahu Community Correctional Center (OCCC), which has been plagued by overcrowding and inmate escapes in recent years.
