Each year, the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) recognizes a standout facility and presents them with the Facility of Year award. For 2012, the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility (CRCF) was presented with the prestigious honor.

The American Correctional Association (ACA) has awarded its highest score to the Berkshire County Jail and House of Corrections. The facility was awarded a score of 100 percent by the ACA report, according to Sheriff Thomas Bowler.
