MTC Signs $383 Million Contract With Texas

RAYMONDVILLE, Texas — Management & Training Corp. will continue to manage a 540-bed federal detention facility in Willacy County after the U.S. Marshals Service agreed to a multi-year contract renewal valued at up to $383 million.

Under the terms of the contract, the Utah-based private prison operator and programming services provider will continue to operate the Willacy County Regional Detention Facility for the Marshals Service for at least five years.

In addition to the five-year base period, the new agreement includes three five-year options that could extend the deal through December 2029.

Inmates at the ACA-accredited Willacy facility receive rehabilitative programming that emphasizes the development and improvement of basic business, personal finance, parenting and other social skills designed to aid re-entry and reduce recidivism.

MTC has managed the facility in Raymondville for the Marshals Service since 2003 and also operates the nearby 3,086-bed Willacy Processing Center under contract with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
