Rates Of HIV/AIDS-Related Deaths In Prison Continue To Decline, BJS Reports

AIDS-related deaths among all state and federal prisoners dropped from 24 deaths per 100,000 inmates in 2001 to five per 100,000 in 2010, according to a report by the Justice Department's Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS).

A new concern has hit those in Massachusetts’ county jails. The state has recently eliminated more than $1 million for HIV testing and education in county jails.
