Orange County recently selected Moseley Architects of Charlotte, N.C., to design the new Orange County Detention Facility. The new jail aims to improve both energy efficiency and mental health care for inmates.

New Lowell Judicial Center Will Aim for LEED Platinum

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick recently approved a $1 million investment in the design and planning of the new energy-efficient Lowell Judicial Center. The existing facility, which is the fifth busiest district court in the state for criminal cases, has long been in need of repairs, and current conditions have been described as “deplorable,” according to a statement by Rep. David Mangel (D-Lowell).

Wake County Correctional Facilities Go Green

The Wake County Detention Center expansion project and new Justice Center in Raleigh have both achieved LEED Silver status.
