On March 8, Corrections Standards Authority approved $602,881,000 in funds for jail construction projects in 11 counties, the second phase under realignment, which amounts to a $1.2 billion investment in county jails, under AB 900.

The Corrections Standards Authority, under AB 900 Local Jail Construction Financing Program, Phase II, released specifics on all applications received by Jan. 11, 2011. Divided into large, medium and small counties, based upon population numbers, each grouping sought well over the funds currently available.

The State of California, having now enacted historic criminal justice realignment, continues to pursue AB 900 projects for local jail construction as part of the ongoing efforts and commitment to increasing local jail capacity.
