New Coffee County Jail to Start Accepting Inmates

A tentative move-in date for inmates to transfer to the nearly $20 million Coffee County Jail in Manchester is set for May 4. Construction crews are wrapping up interior concrete finishing work on the new jail while officials are moving items from the old jail.

Lucas County Resumes New Jail Planning

Lucas County commissioners approved a contract with a consultant to resume preliminary work on the project almost four months after putting construction of the Toledo jail on hold. The commissioners unanimously approved in late February to enter into a contract with a consultants’ group to prepare requests for the bidding process to contract for construction management, architectural and engineering services.

North Dakota County Begins Jail Expansion Process

Following the approval of a $24 million bond proposal, Ward County, N.D., commissioners in Minot are now meeting with financial professionals to begin the borrowing process for a new 100-bed jail expansion. The project will more than double the size of the existing facility and received considerable community support.

Campbell County Detention Center Reaches Final Construction Phase

NEWPORT, Ky. — The Campbell County Detention Center in Newport is currently in the final phase of a four-phase construction project that started in 2005. This last phase includes renovations of the existing center, as well as additional medium-security beds and a new isolation wing that will be used to house inmates in a substance abuse program.
