The demand for new operations programs comes from the justice system’s heightened strive to crack down on crime. This, according to experts, has caused the significant increase in older inmates over the years.

After finalizing its purchase of a 1,287-bed detention facility in Montgomery County, Texas, private prison corporation The GEO Group, based in Boca Raton, Fla., is looking to purchase a second federal prison in the area.

Inmates will soon move into the new North Dakota State Penitentiary with a state-of-the-art medical care facility and upgraded security system.
Construction on the maximum-security prison, which will include the replacement of some antiquated facilities dating back to the 1800s, began in 2010. BWBR Architects, with offices in St. Paul, Minn. designed the much-awaited project.
