Construction Begins on Lake County Courthouse Tower

In June, construction began on the second phase of the $110 million Lake County Courthouse complex expansion project in Waukegan. The eight-story, 200,000-square-foot criminal courts building will include 12 courtrooms and connect to the current courthouse via an overhead walkway, reported the Chicago Tribune. There will be a holding room on each floor adjacent to the courtrooms, which the current courthouse does not include.

Virginia Task Force Publishes Juvenile Hall Design Recommendations

An interim report authored by Virginia’s Juvenile Correctional Center Task Force based in Richmond calls for smaller facilities designed with an increased emphasis on rehabilitation. The report specifically addresses the design and construction of a new juvenile correctional center in Chesapeake.

Ward County Jail on Track for 2018 Completion

Construction on the much-needed expansion to the Ward County Jail in Minot is currently on track after breaking ground in April. The current 104-bed facility, built in 1981, continues to face overcrowding issues, holding up to at least 130 inmates at times.

Delaware County Judicial Building to Debut Next Spring

The new $38 million Delaware County Judicial Building currently under construction in Delaware will combine a majority of county governmental services under one roof, providing better transactional relationships for court and administrative tasks. The project broke ground last fall and is scheduled for completion in spring 2017.
