James (Jim) Henry

James (Jim) Henry, design director for HDR’s south region, was recently awarded a 2015 Young Architects Award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The national award recognizes individuals who have shown exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the profession in an early stage of their architectural careers, and is given to those who have been licensed to practice architecture for less than 10 years. Henry was the youngest design principal in the firm’s history when he assumed the role in 2010, and in 2014 was named regional design director for the entire south region and a member of HDR’s global management team. He has served as design director on projects such as the Lackland Ambulatory Care Center, the largest center of its kind in the Department of Defense, the Denton County Jail and many other healthcare and civic projects throughout the south region. He has also participated in several levels of leadership at the local AIA Dallas Chapter and has recently completed his second term on the Board of Directors, serving as the director of communication.
