Robert A. Hassell

Robert A. Hassell, an 18-year public safety veteran, is the new chief of the Reidsville Police Department in Reidsville, N.C. Hassell is currently serving as the associate vice chancellor and chief of police and public safety at Fayetteville State University, prior to which he was the chief of police for the community of Hope Mills. He also worked as director of the Fairmont Department of Public Safety, and was a sergeant at the Kinston Department of Public Safety. As police chief for Reidsville, Hassell will oversee 60 employees and an operating budget of more than $4.5 million. Hassell received a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice administration from Mount Olive College, and a master’s in public administration from Central Michigan University.
