Walt Pesterfield will soon join the Colorado Department of Corrections as its new Director of Parole. Pesterfield has a lengthy professional background in corrections, having worked in law enforcement, drug treatment and with youthful offenders. He began his career as a police officer in California, and most recently served as director of community justice at the Columbia County Department of Community Justice in Oregon. There, he oversaw adult and juvenile corrections, before moving to parole and probations. Pesterfield earned his Bachelor of Science in criminal justice administration from Northeastern State University in 1998. He will begin his new duties with the Colorado Department of Corrections Feb. 3.
