DENVER — There is a lot of movement happening in Denver, as Mike Langersmith, president and CEO of CML Specialties Inc., recently announced the formation of a new banner company, CML RW Security.

The new company, which will have its headquarters in Denver, will serve as a full-service detention equipment and security electronics contractor, and looks to expand its geographical outreach, according to a statement by the new company.

“CML RW Security is a culmination of expertise from across the corrections industry. Built on the foundation of CML Specialties and our legacy within the detention equipment community with over 80 correctional facilities built and renovated, we have created an alliance to team with the RW companies, and other industry leaders to provide world class client service,” said Langersmith in a statement. “I am positioning our existing company for growth with fresh leadership. Teaming with a company like RW, who has seen worldwide success with their precast module business, makes sense.”

CML RW now provides detention equipment and security electronics services to prisons, jails, juvenile facilities, courthouses, justice centers, embassies and military bases. The new CML RW Security executive team adds industry leaders Keith Thoene and JJ Ramsey. Thoene, who has 13 years in the corrections industry has been named the president of CML RW. Thoene is also the former COO of Sierra Detention, and also worked for Hensel Phelps Construction Co. Ramsey formally served as the vice president of sales and marketing for Trussbilt and will now lead CML RW as its vice president of business development.

The formation of the new company, CML RW Security, does not mean Rotondo Weirich will halt its precast business. RW is still fully functioning, providing precast concrete cells worldwide. The reason behind the new business venture, according to RW, is to broaden their offerings for turnkey justice specialty contracting solutions.

“My vision for CML RW is to be a world-class detention equipment and security electronics contractor which clients can depend on to build the best, most secure, and seamless correctional facilities in the industry. We’ll employ top talent, and clients will benefit by working with a high-caliber, driven team,” said Thoene in a statement.

CML RW currently has three projects secured — two entail a DEC/security electronics package, and the other one is solely security electronics.

The new firm is excited and eager to get to work, “We are thrilled to put the RW name behind Keith and JJ’s leadership in the DEC/SEC sector of the business,” said Weirich. “Their entrepreneurial spirit is exactly the type of fire that led to RW’s module success. I have the utmost confidence they will achieve their business goals.”
