SACRAMENTO, Calif. — State officials issued a request for qualifications for the design and construction of the planned 1.2 million-square-foot corrections department medical complex in Stockton.

The proposed California Health Care Facility, which will house and treat 1,722 male inmate-patients with serious or chronic medical and mental health conditions, has a construction budget of $600 million, according to the notice issued by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The CDCR will operate the new medical complex, which will incorporate energy-efficient design measures and sustainable building practices, officials say.

Design-build parties interested in providing architectural, engineering and construction services for the design-build project must submit bids by December 10, according to the department’s Facility Planning, Construction and Management unit.

A mandatory RFQ briefing conference at Stockton’s Civic Auditorium is scheduled for October 20th.
