Oldcastle, MCS Secure GEO Florida Facilities

BOCA RATON, Fla., — GEO Group contracted with Oldcastle Security and MCS to provide secure perimeter solutions for three facilities in Florida.

The private prison operator chose Oldcastle’s Defensor fence intruder detection system for installation at the 1,500-bed Graceville Correctional Facility, northwest of Tallahassee; the 680-bed Florida Civil Commitment Center, in Arcadia; and the 238-bed South Florida Evaluation & Treatment Center, in Florida City. The systems were installed at the three facilities by San Antonio-based integrator Metroplex Control Systems.

The Defensor perimeter security system features Oldcastle’s patented Alpha microphonic sensor cable, which provides audio verification of security breaches.

Oldcastle, which is based in Telford, Pa., entered the perimeter security market in 2006 and partnered with Geoquip Worldwide, a United Kingdom-based designer, developer and manufacturer of electronic perimeter intrusion detection systems.

In addition to Defensor, Oldcastle’s line of perimeter security products includes Psicon, a zone-based detection system that uses seismic sensors, and Perimbar, an infrared beam system designed for installations covering uneven terrain.

Other products include Gthernet, an external fiber-optic communication network that uses CCTV and audio verification, and MicroAlert, a mounted alarm processor that can be integrated into fencing installations.

Oldcastle and Geoquip are divisions of international construction materials company Cement Roadstone Holdings, which is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, and operates in 34 countries.
