Randy Lindemann was elected to serve on the board of directors for Minneapolis-based KKE Architects Inc., an architectural, interior design and planning firm. Since 1987, he has led the design for all of the firm’s justice projects, including jails, courthouses and police stations.

The American Institute of Architects elected David A. Thurm to serve as public director from the close of the 2007 annual meeting of the board of directors until the close of its 2009 annual meeting. In his position, he will work with information technology, the media and strategic planning. He is employed as senior vice president and chief information officer at the New York Times.

Reginald Arnold was appointed the Mid-Atlantic division president and general manager for Boston-based Suffolk Construction Company Inc. He has more than 24 years of experience in the construction industry and in his new role will focus on construction projects for the federal government, commercial and hospitality markets.

The Beck Group, a full-service construction company, promoted Beth Bernitt to director of corporate marketing at the company’s Tampa, Fla., office. She was previously director of integrated architecture, construction and development services for the Florida region.

Rotondo Weirich, a specialty contractor that produces prefinished, concrete housing modules, promoted Michael Artman and David Burton to vice president at the Lederach, Pa., headquarters. Artman has more than 10 years of experience with the company and has served as project executive and project manager on several projects in the corrections industry. Burton has more than 25 years of construction experience and previously worked in executive management roles with general contracting companies.

Steve Nelson, AIA, LEED AP, was named partner for Gilfillan Callahan Architects, of Rolling Meadows, Ill. He will assist the firm in developing client services and managing environmental issues.

Sean Collins, LEED AP, was promoted to senior associate of Los Angeles-based HGA Architects and Engineers.

Stonehouse Returns to Norment

Norment Security Group, a full-service detention equipment contractor and manufacturer of security hardware and electronics, welcomes Steve Stonehouse back to the corrections industry. He joins the company’s Tracy , Calif. , office as marketing manager for the western United States .

Stonehouse started in the industry in 1989 as a field service technician for Airteq Systems, Norment’s security hardware manufacturer, and was later promoted to national sales manager.

He left the industry four years ago to become project manager for the Greenbury Construction corporate office building project in Portland , Ore.

“I’m excited to be back,” Stonehouse says. “Once you get this business in your blood, there’s no escape.”

San Diego-based Douglas E. Barnhart Inc., a construction management company, appointed Ryan Stichler director of business development. With more than seven years of marketing experience, he will direct and manage the company’s marketing department. He previously held marketing and business development positions at NTDStichler and the Stichler Group.

Cannon Design, a national architectural, engineering and planning firm, appointed three associate vice presidents. Kelly Hayes McAlonie, MRAIC, LEED AP, has more than 13 years of experience in planning and design. David A. Johnson, AIA, has served as project designer for several government and healthcare clients during his 13 years of experience. Joseph A. Robins has more than 19 years of experience in electrical engineering design. In addition, Stephen Johnson, AIA, joined the firm as a principal where he will focus on strategic marketing.

Trivers Associates, an architectural design firm, announced the addition of five new employees to its St. Louis office. John Kennedy was hired as a senior architectural designer, Karla Zimmerman was hired as an account manager, Dave Myers joined the firm as an architectural designer II, Aaron Lewis joined as an architectural designer I, and Kai Treier joined as an interior design intern.

Integrated Project Services, a full-service engineering, design/build, validation and compliance company, appointed a new leadership team for its New Jersey office. David Brown was named regional office manager and will lead the project services and controls teams. Patrick Boccio, PE, was named director of project management and will lead key account management and project development for the New Jersey area. Aaron Weinstein was named manager of compliance. Mark Butler will continue as general manager of engineering and principal-in-charge.

Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc., an interdisciplinary firm, hired two new senior staff members to its San Francisco office. Alan Dreyfuss is an expert in historical architecture design and is focused in the areas of rehabilitation, adaptive reuse and historical preservation. David Green is a building enclosure and curtainwall specialist and has designed curtainwall and cladding systems for several high-profile buildings, including the Millennium Tower in San Francisco and the Museum of Modern Art in New York .

Gilbane Inc., a full-service construction and real estate development company, hired Ronda M. Bailey as regional business development manager for its Philadelphia office. With more than 10 years of experience in marketing and business development, she will oversee sales and business development in the Delaware Valley Region and manage the business development department.

Jan Paul Miller, a specialist in industrial certification and education, joined the Construction Management Association of America as vice president, certification, where he will focus on the certified construction manager program. He was previously with the Construction Specifications Institute where he was responsible for administering certification programs for specifiers, architects, engineers and contractor building materials suppliers.

Andrew Karafa Jr. is the new president and partner of Derby Industries, a manufacturer of mattresses for correctional and behavioral health facilities. Karafa has been with the business, which is headquartered in South Bend , Ind. , for more than 15 years and most recently served as vice president of production.

Tim Eckersley joined Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies, headquartered in Carmel, Ind., as president of Commercial Americas. In his new position, he will be responsible for commercial products and channels and the development and execution of new business strategies. He most recently worked at Nokia where he served as the senior vice president for North America .

TOA Electronics Inc., a manufacturer of commercial audio and security products, appointed two new associates to its administration department. Lada Smirnova is the new director of finance and administration, and has experience in management, financial analysis, accounting and human resources. Dino Marinopoulos is the new materials manager and is experienced in the areas of supply chain management, inventory control and fulfillment and logistics.

Kaivac Inc., manufacturers of the No-Touch Cleaning system, headquartered in Hamilton, Ohio, appointed three sales directors to its North American operations. Kevin Mullins has been with the company for more than two years and will cover the Western Region; Mike Perazzo has three years experience with the company and will oversee national accounts; and Tim Wolf has focused on the company’s training programs and will handle the Eastern Region.

Facilities

Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, Maine, promoted five staff members. Adam Archer and Kaleb Colbry were promoted from sergeant to lieutenant, Susan Schena and Paul Rolfe were promoted from corrections officer to sergeant, and Jeff Reger was promoted from maintenance worker to maintenance technician.
