Metromont Corporation has hired Jay Cariveau as corporate director of business development and marketing. Cariveau brings more than 20 years of experience in architecture, construction, management, and sales and marketing to the position. Metromont is one of the largest privately owned precast/prestressed concrete companies in the country. It has offices in South Carolina , North Carolina , Georgia and Tennessee .

Michael J. Smith, AIA, has been named principal at Cannon Design, a national architectural, engineering and planning firm. Smith leads the firm’s civic/justice practice. He has designed and managed justice law enforcement, detention and other civic facility projects for more than 25 years. Smith worked on the new Maricopa County Juvenile Courts and Detention Facility in Arizona , and he was the project manager for the Los Angeles Central Juvenile Hall. He is currently serving as project director for the renovation and seismic retrofit of a federal office building in downtown Los Angeles .

Goodman Brnovich DaDante Reiss

Charles Goodman, AIA, is now overseeing SchenkelShultz Architecture’s justice work in the Southeast from the firm’s Orlando , Fla. , office. Goodman previously served in various positions at the SchenkelShultz office in Ft. Wayne , Ind. Although he is now in Orlando , he will still have some involvement in Midwest projects. Goodman’s first project with the company and in corrections was the Boone County Jail in Lebanon , Ind. He has also designed the Miami Correctional Facility in Peru , Ind. , and several federal facilities.

Ronald G. Thompson has been named the managing director of Corrections Corporation of America ‘s Division VI. As managing director he will be responsible for operations at 21 facilities and five community corrections offices, which house about 41,000 inmates and 6,100 staff. Thompson previously spent 30 years working for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He most recently served as a member of the bureau’s executive staff in Senior Executive Services.

Mark Brnovich, senior director of customer relations, has been selected to head the Corrections Corporation of America ‘s new satellite office in Phoenix . In an attempt to increase its presence in the western United States , CCA has opened the business development office in Phoenix . The new office will bring the company closer to facilities it runs in Arizona, Colorado , New Mexico and Idaho , and closer to potential new markets in the West. Brnovich was hired by CCA last spring and has 15 years experience in public policy research and analysis, government relations and law. He was recently the director of the Center for Constitutional Government at the Goldwater Institute.

Tony M. DaDante was hired by CCA to serve as executive vice president and chief people officer, a position created by the company in 2004 to devote greater attention to facility operations and human resource issues. DaDante has 25 years of experience in labor issues, human resources, employee relations and internal communications. He last worked for toy manufacturer Mattel Brands and served in various human resources capacities for seven years.

A new position to help create stronger ties between CCA’s operations and business development teams has been filled by John Robinson, who will serve as managing director, operational planning and development. Robinson has worked for CCA for 21 years and during the past five years he has served as managing director, quality assurance.

CISA Holding has appointed William Houlin as president and CEO of Briggs Plumbing, of Charleston , S.C. Houlin has more than 20 years of executive management experience. He has worked for Black & Decker, Gillette, Polaroid and PRG-Shultz, and has been stationed at offices in Spain , Colombia , Argentina and Puerto Rico . He will relocate from Miami to Charleston , where he will report directly to Jorge Meruane, president and CEO of CISA.

Paul Reiss has been appointed vice president of finance of Springfield, Ohio-based Moyno Inc., a manufacturer of cavity pumps, multiphase fluid transfer systems, grinders and controls. Reiss will oversee finances for Moyno, a unit of Robbins & Myers, which has financial interests in the United Kingdom , Mexico , Singapore and China . He most recently served as vice president and controller at Chemineer Inc., which is also a unit of Robbins & Myers.

The board of directors for Flowserve Corp. has selected Lewis M. Kling to serve as president, chief executive officer and as a member of its board of directors. Kling previously served as chief operating officer. Prior to his employment at Flowserve, Kling was group president and corporate officer at SPX Corp. He replaces president and CEO Kevin Sheehan, who was appointed last April. Flowserve, of Chapel Hill , N.C. , produces engineered and industrial pumps, seals and valves and several flow-management services.

Thomas D. Van Houten and Matthew J. Swando have both been named regional sales managers for BI Incorporated, a provider of offender monitoring technology. Van Houten will be responsible for the company’s east region sales team. He previously served as the business development executive for the mid-Atlantic region. Swando will lead the west region sales team. He joined BI in 2001 as a business development executive.

McNamara Hrunka

Bosch Security Systems, a manufacturer of fire alarm systems and components, has appointed fire product manager Jack McNamara vice chairman of the National Electrical manufacturing Association’s Signaling, Protection and Communications Product Group. McNamara will work with the group chairman and association representatives to promote safe product installation, product development and training. He has more than 30 years of experience in the fire safety industry. The vice chairman position has a two-year term and is often a steppingstone for appointment to the chairman position.

Marathon Engineering Corporation, of Mountain Ranch, Calif. , has named George Hrunka as president and chief executive officer. Marathon manufactures Gold Medal Safety Padding, which is used in seclusion cells and detox, hospital, emergency, psychiatric and holding rooms throughout the United States and several other countries. Hrunka had previously worked for Tindall Corporation’s Corrections Division and Brayman Construction Corporation. The company’s previous president, William Nieder, is now serving as chairman.

Emerson Network Power has named Earle Weaver president of Liebert North America, a mission-critical power and cooling company. Weaver formerly served as president of Emerson’s White-Rodgers Division and he has also served as president of Emerson’s Specialty Motors Division. In addition, he has experience in strategic planning and investor relations at Emerson.
